Active Alignment Therapy(AAT)
Active Alignment Therapy or (AAT) is the latest manual therapy for the treatment of joint dysfunction related to the foot and ankle. This procedure helps balance and coordinate the muscles and joints in the foot and ankle while they are involved in activities like walking, running, jumping, and climbing stairs.
This is a very effective therapy for pain and dysfunction in the foot & ankle including sprian/strains and muscles/tendon issues as well at joint mobility problems.
We will also utilize general and custom foot orthotics of they are needed.
Symptoms of Foot & Ankle Dysfunction include:
- Pain in the foot/ankle
- Popping or Clicking in the ankle
- Plantar Faciitis
- Pain in other surrounding joints like the knee or hip
- Pain while walking
- Uneven wearing of footwear
- Stiffness or limited mobility of foot/ankle
In the past, passive techniques were used like braces and injections that will help soft-tissues heal. These treatments would help symptoms while the foot/ankle are in the brace, but the foot/ankle are joints and a joints main function is to move. This means every time you use your foot & ankle alignment will still be incorrect because the muscle coordination is still imbalanced.
Other therapies offered at other offices include pain relievers, anti-inflammatory medications, and injections that can sometimes help symptoms but they don’t address the primary cause of foot & ankle dysfunction which is muscle/joint incoordination and imbalance.
Surgery is should be reserved for only the most difficult cases that don’t respond to conservative therapies.
(AAT) is a better approach for better results in treating Foot & Ankle dysfunction.
